Prerequisites, Textbooks, Levels
We expect that you have none or
little knowledge of Icelandic. Our course will build on easy Icelandic and
basic vocabulary.
If you choose you can work through the "Icelandic online" internet course on your own, but we do not expect our participants in this course to do so. Please calculate approximately 50 hours of work for the whole "Icelandic online" course. It is accessible at www.icelandic.hi.is. Please note that it is better to do the first three chapters diligently than to hurry through the whole course.
The course materials are provided by the teachers in the form of photocopies and other materials. The material is included in the course fee, and will be available in the University Center of the Westfjords on arrival. We expect you to bring your own basic dictionary. Basic dictionaries are also available in the local bookstores in Ísafjörður.
